Art Hours Summer Workshop 2016: Highlights from the Origami Session

The Origami session of the Art Hours Summer Workshop 2016 for children, was held during the evening hours. It was a two-week workshop revolving around a different theme each day.

Very few know what is Origami and the benefits of learning Origami. By conducting this workshop Art Hours wanted to create an awareness amongst the students and the parents regarding Origami. Most of the children attending the workshop had never folded a paper before apart from making a airplane maybe.

The kids who attended the morning as well as the evening session discovered that Origami was not just fun but a challenge as well. At the end of every session, the kids proudly exhibited their Origami art work.

Art Hours Summer Workshop 2016: Highlights from the Art & Craft Session

The Art Hours Summer Workshop 2016 was held during the summer vacations in Dubai. It was a two week summer workshop for Children from 7 years onwards and was held from 26th June to 6th July 2016 . The morning session comprised of Art & Craft activities wherein the children learned different skills each day ranging from painting, origami, paper-weaving, kirigami, canvas painting, clay-modeling, poster making and making pop-up greeting cards.

Most of the kids were beginners and were trying to learn each new skill with great enthusiasm. Also, every Art/Craft activity needed a certain amount of patience and most of the kids certainly exhibited it with awesome grace till the end of the two-week workshop. What I enjoyed as a mentor was seeing them proudly hold their work for display at the end of the day and looking up to me for appreciation.

Since it was vacation time, the kids were in the mood to have fun and some kids had to be pushed to work harder; while chiding did work for some kids, some would carry on with grumpy faces...some needed motivation in the form of appreciation and some needed motivation in form of gifts...everyday was a test for me as a mentor to motivate and push them to work harder to achieve the creative output...but as they say every child is an artist, the workshop ended with wonderful results each day.
