Vincent Van Gogh said: "Inspite of everything I shall rise again; I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing."
These lines inspired me to pick up my pencil and start drawing and sketching which I had left years ago. With limited time available, job stress and strain, with a child and loads of family responsibility, where was the time to draw with a pencil. I used to draw and sketch using sophisticated electronic tools for it was so easy. You can just sketch and rub and then sketch again and correct your mistakes so easily on a tab or mobile device, but believe me, the day I picked up my pencil back, there was no looking back. It gives you the output or result that no electronic devices can offer and a satisfaction that is much more gratifying...and there's a sense of achievement you will get when you really try it.
Drawing with pencil needs no preparation. It is simple and easy to learn. Just be ready with a paper and a pencil, and have the urge to learn, observe and simply draw. Don't get carried away by the type of pencils and type of papers available. There are different grades of pencils and thousands of paper types available in the market but you can explore them later. First try your hand at simple drawings and sketches.
